Caramel Brownies

A tailgating staplefrom Kim.  This is for a 9x13 pan.  Kim doubles it and puts it in alarge baking sheet.  It always overflows in the oven on  me so I putfoil down under pan so it doesn't make a huge smokey, stinky mess

Ingredients

50 carmels
2/3 cup of evaporated milk
1 pkg. german chocolate cake mix
1 cup nuts (optional)
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
6 oz. package chocolate chips

In heavy saucepan, combine caramels and 1/3 cup of the evaported milk. Cook over low heat until melted, stirring constantly.  In large bowl, combine dry ingredients and mix other 1/3 cup of evaporated milk and meltedbutter until dough holds together.  Press 1/2 of the dough into pansprayed with Pam and bake at 350 for 6 minutes.  Reserve rest of dough fortop.  sprinkle chips over baked dough and then pour melted caramels overchips.  Press/crumble remaining dough to cover the top and return pan tothe oven to bake 15-18 minutes.  Cool before cutting.
